What is Physical AI?​

Physical AI represents the convergence of artificial intelligence with physical systems, particularly robotics. It's an interdisciplinary field that combines machine learning, robotics, computer vision, natural language processing, and control systems to create intelligent agents that can perceive, reason, and act in the physical world.

Core Principles​

Physical AI is built on several foundational principles:

  1. Embodied Cognition: Intelligence emerges from the interaction between an agent and its physical environment. The body is not just a vessel but an integral part of the cognitive process.

  2. Sim-to-Real Transfer: The ability to develop and test AI algorithms in simulation environments before deploying them to real-world physical systems, ensuring safety and reducing costs.

  3. Perception-Action Loops: Continuous cycles of sensing the environment, processing information, making decisions, and executing actions that affect the physical world.
